Its shape is that of a spiral,
which is wounded with the help of a flat strip of wire and embarked
by a torque at an axis normal to the plane of the spiral. Also known
by different names such as clock, power or coil springs, these
springs are mostly used in steering wheels, clocks, galvanometers
are other rotating devices. Spiral springs are made of stainless
steel, nickel, titanium, alloy steel, brass, beryllium copper,
plastic etc.
